Wrong pliers leading to wrist injury

A man working as an electrician has been awarded £15,000 after injuring his wrist when installing an electric meter.

He damaged his right wrist when using a pair of pliers that were supplied by his employer. The pliers that had been supplied were in fact not ratchet pliers, which would have been more appropriate for the job in hand.

The medical examinations confirmed that the injury was related to the incident with the pliers and for 12 months the gentleman had pain and can now not use his hand, as was, having less of a grip, causing him to find heavy manual work hard. Due to this the man has changed his occupation.

The gentleman's employer denied to take responsibility for the injury but made an offer of the £15,000 prior to trial, which was accepted.
