Work campaign to launch in April
Posted on January 01st 2010
The re-launch of the world renowned Healthy Workplaces Campaign, organised by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work has been set for April 28 2010. The date has been chosen, as it is the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which is the opportune time to re-launch this prestigious event.
The agency has already been tipped for an award for its efforts and support for safe maintenance at work. The main award for the event is the European Good Practice award 2010-2011.
Agency worker, Jukka Takala said: "With over 450 Europeans dying every day from work-related causes, and with 6% of European GDP being lost because of work accidents and ill health, it is vital that we continue to focus on workplace health and safety. I am convinced that the campaign on safe maintenance will build on the success of the risk assessment campaign, and continue to reach out to Europe's workers."
The Health and safety Executive (HSE) are also involved with the campaign organising more than 30 different events, reaching over 1,000 individuals. They also distributed around 20,000 action packs to companies in order to get their participation in the campaign.
