Warehouse man receives compensation

A warehouse man who was carrying out the dismantling and re-erecting of large industrial racking systems, has received £517,500 compensation when he injured his knee after the racks that he was re-erecting gave way as the securing bolts were not secure.

The accident caused the worker to fall backwards and severely damage his leg which required an operation to replace the knee and so he remained in hospital for seven weeks.

His solicitors commented that they were unsure as to whether the racking had ever been checked within the 15 years that it was first installed for safety. The worker had also never been given any training on the equipment that he was using.
