Trafford now push for better health and safety
Posted on March 19th 2010
The Health and Safety Executive continue to tackle the effects of workplace incidents with their Shattered Lives campaign this week as they move their focus to Trafford. The campaign is looking at slips, trips or falls in the industry as they account for a large percentage of injuries sustained at work each year.
Last year there where 177 accidents that involved a worker taking more than 3 days off work, 51 of these injuries where considered to be major. There was an estimated 14,000 major injuries last year in the UK, which costs around £800 million to the economy.
The recession will make these sorts of injuries more hard felt to companies as they already struggle to keep afloat. It is wise for companies to protect themselves against this sort of financial dilemma by purchasing a liability insurance policy, which covers a company in the event of loss or damage to a third party, employee or employer.
