Stress levels take their toll on Londoners
Posted on August 26th 2009
As many companies enter administration others refuse to give in to the recession with employers and employees working their fingers to the bone in order to stay afloat. Yet on the other hand the numbers of liability insurance claims are also likely to mount as more and more employees are beginning to feel the stress pinch.
Londoners feel this increased pressure more heavily than perhaps other areas of the UK, as the country's commercial centre and the site of the infamous bankers credit crunch, employees in London are suffering form increased stress levels according to a survey published by UKNow poll, Hall & Partners.
In addition to the higher stress levels, one fifth of staff agreed that they now have more aggressive work places, attitudes to work begin to shift as many begin to feel that their job positions are less stable.
Doctors and psychotherapists have also seen an increase in stress related illnesses such as irritable bowel syndrome and eating disorders which can become more common in people who feel they are losing control over their workload, fighting an uphill struggle or face the threat of losing their steady employment.
The Health and Safety Executive have long released guidelines to help companies limit the amount of stress felt by employees, although the economic downturn is a trying time for many, the effects of the recession can be limited.
Insure My Liability provides employers liability insurance for local companies and industries to help them bare the financial burden of liability insurance claims should an employee suffer an accident at work or develop stress or other such conditions as a result of their work.
