Screen engineer injured by a crane

A man has received £35000 in compensation after being hit by a crane.

A crane was responsible for the serious leg injuries suffered by a freelance screen engineer after a crane hit him.

The injured man was dismantling a large video screen at Chester racecourse. The video screen consisted of a large steel structure that was taken down and put into a pile so that it could be moved by the crane.

When the crane went to move the steel pile, the crane hit a perimeter fence, which caused a beam to swing and knock the man to the ground.

The man who had to have two operations after suffering severe fractures to his knee and ankle will need to have a complete knee replacement in the future.

After the accident checks were carried on site and it revealed that health and safety procedures were not carried out correctly. All workers should be given a health and safety briefing before starting any work on the site.
