Posted on July 31st 2009

The British media love to mock the over protective health and safety standards which are exercised in schools throughout the United Kingdom.

Liability insurance has often been used as a poor excuse to avoid with headlines claiming a ban on skipping ropes, safety goggles for conker fights and the end of the school trip due to stacks of risk assessments and paperwork.

However, up until recently the Tamil Nadu schools of Southern India have had little regard for such things as public liability insurance, if it even enters conscious thought. The state has now put a ban on "risky" stunts which were popular at many southern schools.

Acrobatic shows using various martial arts technique have been popular with students and parents alike. Students have actively taken a active role in stunts as the Villupuram school demonstrated as student lined the floor and a stuntman on a motor bike drove across their hands.

The stunt was stopped by a member of a child's family who reported the highly unsafe accident. Over 50, 000 schools in the Tamil Nadu state will now follow the new rules however many teachers insist that parents had given consent for the participation of students in these martial art stunts.

Insure My Liability offers competitive public liability insurance for employers and business owners ensuring competitive insurance premiums from industry leaders.
