Putting publics safety at risk could cost you
Posted on November 02nd 2009
A manufacturing company in Ipswich has been fined after putting members of the public's safety at risk.
The timber importer based on Eagle Wharf in Ipswich was found guilty after Health and Safety Executives discovered that they had not implemented any barriers or areas for their commercial vehicles, including forklift trucks and couriers from passing members of the public and cyclists who could have come in to contact with the vehicles, causing a serious accident.
South East Sussex Magistrates Court found the company guilty of breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. They were fined 3,000 and court costs of over £10,000.
