Pregnant woman trips at work
Posted on September 16th 2009
Compensation has been awarded to a pregnant mum, who tripped on a loose carpet tile whilst at work.
The woman who was five months pregnant at the time has been compensated with £9,000 after her accident at work. Luckily the worker fell on to a seat so that no harm was caused to her unborn child, however in the process she twisted her back leaving her with the need of physiotherapy.
The ladies employers put her back pain down to the pregnancy, however following an examination after the birth of her child she was required to take heavy steroid injections as well as the physiotherapy recommended by the doctor.
Looking after her new baby was also a strain, turning what is meant to be the most pleasurable time into an effort. She had to constantly rely on her 13 year old Son to help her with simple tasks, such as lifting her baby girl.
The woman now looks back on the accident and can't imagine what would have happened if there had not been a chair to break her fall as this could have led to a more serious injury.
