No permit no job
Posted on September 25th 2009
Christopher Fry, a gas fitter from Torquay has been fined £2,000 after carrying out a £14,200 job without a Corgi registration. The 56 year old Haldon Heating operator had carried out a job that required a tradesman registered by Corgi. Mr Fry admitted to the offence and told magistrates that the reason for not renewing was that he could not afford to pay the £1,000 fee.
"I should have got the money. It should not have happened, I have been Corgi registered for a very long time but I was struggling."
Magistrates told that Mr Fry knew the risks involved with gas and that it was vital to hold Corgi registration yet he chose not to incur the cost, which led to a fine of over £4,000.
Mr Fry has since renewed his registration and gained the required qualifications needed in his field of work.
