Liability insurance needed for Madonna's stage of death
Posted on July 20th 2009
The construction company's employer liability insurance will definitely be called upon as two people have died in France following the collapse of the stage erected for Madonna's 'sticky and sweet' tour.
The roof of the Velodrome stage in the Olympique de Marseille football club began to shake and finally collapsed bringing down a crane that was supporting the partially built cover.
This is the third major crane crash in the last 2 weeks following the collapse of the shipping carne in Southampton Dockyards last Tuesday, and the flipped cranes working on the new Delhi Metro last Sunday.
A Frenchman, 53, was killed immediately on impact with another British worker being rushed to intensive care and neurosurgery procedures proved unsuccessful, as the injured man died overnight.
In total over 30 people are said to have been both shocked and suffering minor injuries due to the accident, however many managed to escape with their lives in the brief moments before the roof caved in.
Reports were conveyed to Madonna who was performing in Udine, Italy and in return her prayers and thoughts were sent to the grieving families of the two workers. Her show, due to air Sunday night, has since been cancelled.
