Inquiry in to factory blast begins

An inquiry has begun it to the explosion at a Glasgow factory, which occurred in 2004, killing nine people and injuring 33. The factory collapsed after liquefied petroleum gas had escaped from old pipework.

The 2 companies who were held liable were fined a total of £400.000, for breaching Health and Safety laws back on 11th May 2004. However the truth as to who was behind the accident and how it actually happened has never been brought to justice.

The inquiry is now being held to look into the facts. It has no power to determine civil or criminal liability but would allow the court to pursue the truth.

All family members and friends of those that were killed and injured are hoping that the inquiry will prevent such an accident re-occurring.
