Injuries at work fall as a result of a crucial campaign

A logistics business in Northamptonshire introduced a new campaign within the company in an effort to reduce the number of workplace accidents. The operation has been a massive success, with the company seeing an overall figure of injuries in the workplace fall by 44%.

The company realised the need for this reduction when it revealed figures showing that though the years of 2004/05 the number of workers that where injured at work were in the region of 53. This was leading to an average absence per worker of 3 days, which they could ill afford. Thanks to the new campaign they have managed to drop the figure to 8 during the period of 2008/09.

A spokesman from Daventry District Council said: "The initiative has clearly been a success, with a huge drop in the number of serious accidents at the site. The council has welcomed the opportunity to lead this initiative to reduce accidents by moving away from routine inspections to alternative interventions, such as the DIRFT forums and development of the countywide workplace transport tool kit. Of course, we want to get to a position of no major accidents and the council will continue to help businesses in that aim."
