Horrific injuries at work
Posted on March 16th 2009
A quarry worker has received £25000 in compensation after his he won his case against his employer for not supplying him with the correct tools for the job.
The man was in the process of fitting a new conveyor belt to a crane when he fell backwards and landed onto a platform. The tools his employer had given him to do the job weren't the correct tools to complete the job safely. He had never received training on the tools he was given to complete the job. The man suffered from injuries to his neck in the past and caused serious damage to himself when he fell.
He had to have a 2-hour operation to rectify the damage to his neck and shoulder. He now suffers from a crushed nerve, which doctors could not fix.
