Holiday Flight Risk etc
Posted on August 24th 2010
Business liability and risk were brought into stark relief for hundreds of UK holidaymakers a couple of weeks ago as Birmingham-based travel company Sun4U collapsed.
Sun4Uwas the second travel company bankruptcy this summer, with larger tour operator Goldtrail biting the dust a month before. The two events were not unconnected. Goldtrail provided flights for Sun4U and their demise, along with the effects of the volcanic ash clouds, were enough to tip the balance for Sun4U.
Two lessons come out of these unfortunate events. For holidaymakers there is the importance of booking with an ATOL registered travel company. And businesses in general must make sure that they assess their risks and take out liability insurance to mitigate them.
