Health and Safety Executive launches Campaign
Posted on February 11th 2009
A campaign has been launched by The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to raise the awareness of work related accidents. Last year 61 people died nationally and 14,000 suffered serious injuries as a result of workplace accidents, including slips, trips and falling from height.
The campaign named 'shattered lives', second phase will be highlighting the devastating consequences of workplace injuries and they will be hoping to encourage employers and employees to take action to prevent their causes.
Practical guidance will be given by the HSE with their new interactive learning package, STEP, which will be targeted at sectors that have a higher number of workplace accidents, including food retailers, building and plant maintenance, healthcare and education.
Workplace accidents can cause misery, whether it is a major injury, a lifetime of disability, time off work or even death.
