Health and safety is top of my Christmas list
Posted on November 30th 2009
The recession has caused havoc to the commercial sector bringing companies down and rendering many employees jobless. Although in these times of financial crisis recent research has shown that health and safety standards have not slipped during the recession. The research conducted by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) revealed that 85% of senior construction workers have not dropped their standards during the fall of the economy.
In total 1,260 professionals were asked about their health and safety standards. Of this number, 36% reported they had increased spending on health and safety while 13% said they had reduced spending.
The increase in health and safety standards could be due to the increased number of employees looking to claim compensation at work. Another factor that has had a dramatic effect will have been the increased amount of media attention on health and safety at work.
