HSE team up to launch new event
Posted on March 31st 2010
Wales will host an event unlike any other seen before, when a mock trial will be held in an effort to help boost health and safety awareness in the construction industry. The event will see around 200 representatives from the construction industry watch a mock trial where a group of local solicitors will prosecute Huw Llywelyn, chairman of the South Wales Working Well Together partnership.
This will highlight the consequences of breaching health and safety laws on a construction site by prosecuting and convicting Mr Llywelyn.
The event has been set up to help lower the number of accidents that occur in Wales each year. Between 2004 and 2009 13 people where killed from the construction industry and was also accountable for a further 1,023 accidents. This figure is a number the Health and Safety Executive aimes to lower and hope that this event will help educate those in the industry.
