HSE sow some seeds

Essex is to be the host for Safety and Health Awareness Day (SHAD), which is to be attended by farmers in an effort to prevent workplace accidents. The event will be held at Barleylands Farm, Billericay, by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and will be free to enter.
The event will host qualified instructors, take the farmers through demonstrations on what are the more common causes for agricultural accidents and how they can be avoided. The demonstrations will include; falls from a height and accidents that involve chemicals The event will give farmers the opportunity to ask the HSE inspectors questions on how these incidents can be avoided.
Recent years have seen serious injuries and fatalities in the farming area fall, although in the past year there have been 26 fatalities and around 1,500 injuries, keeping farming as one of the most dangerous jobs.
