HSE launch new phase in their Shattered Lives campaign

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have continued their Shattered Lives campaign by targeting the food and drink industry this week. Figures revealed that there were 1278 incidents last year that caused a worker to miss more than three days from work as a result of company negligence. Of this figure, 274 suffered major injuries which resulting in a long period off work, in some cases the employee was no longer able to work in that sector.
The Shattered Lives campaign is concentrating on accidents involving slipping, tripping and falling, which currently costs the UK £800 million, according to the HSE.
The HSE's latest phase of the Shattered Lives campaign involves the public accident prevention body issuing sector specific guidance to all to the main areas of UK business. The areas include; construction, food retail, health and social care and building and plant maintenance.
A variety of posters have been released across the UK which offers various advice and information, as well as eye catching images.
