Posted on March 22nd 2010

The Health and Safety Executive have fined Blue Chips Hotels £5,000 after failing to comply with warnings the HSE had previously issued. The hotel had previously had their construction site visited by the HSE where it was discovered to be breaching health and safety laws they where then issued with a notice to rectify these issues. The site was then revisited and the inspection found that that they had in fact corrected none of the breaches.

The company was then sentenced and pleaded guilty to breaching section 2(1) and section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. They where fined £3,000 for the offences and ordered to pay £2,000 in costs.

Barry Trudgain from the HSE said: "Simple measures can be taken to ensure the safety of employees on construction sites, such as providing guardrails where necessary and keeping the site clear of hazards such as rubbish."
