Gym member injured by mat
Posted on August 29th 2008
£9,375 has been awarded to a man after he was injured in an accident at his gym whilst he was being given exercises to do by his personal trainer.
The gym member, who was being closely supervised whilst carrying out his programme, was carrying out a particular exercise when his foot slipped off a safety mat. The mat flipped up hitting him on the back of his leg, rupturing his Achilles heel, which required surgery.
Public liability was denied by the gym; however before going to trial the case was settled.
