Employers liability insurance useless in battle against swine flu

Today the governments new swine flu hot line is released to the public as mounting fears of a full scale pandemic grips the country. Businesses are worried that losses caused by swine flu will not be covered by employers liability insurance.

Businesses can be significantly affected by the impacts of an entire workforce being infected and quarantined by the H1N1 virus, leaving offices and businesses short staffed.

Further precautions include advising staff to remain at home if showing flu like symptoms and consulting the new NHS hotline and website for self-diagnosis and to send home employees at work who complain of any flu signs.

Workers who have excessive contact with the public, like health and social workers are advised that a filtering face piece may be a worthwhile investment to diminish the risk of germs spreading.
