David Cameron announces new plans for health and safety procedures
Posted on December 02nd 2009
The conservative leader David Cameron has promised to change the way in which we currently tackle health and safety after comparing the current solutions to that of a straitjacket on personal initiative and responsibility. He is to speak out about how he will bring back "common sense and personal responsibility" into the health and safety system.
Although Britain boasts one of the lowest accident rates in Europe, David Cameron claims there has been a serious problem with the interpretation of the legislation.
Mr Cameron said: "Businesses, organisations and individuals operate under the shadow of the worst case scenario. The more vulnerable they feel, the more cautiously they act and the more stringent their health and safety processes become."
