DPs employer liability cover in demand again

As the crane boom toppled onto a stack of shipping containers in Dock Gate 20 in Southampton docks, a local docker had his legs crushed under the pile on Monday, 13 July. A man in his late thirties, a member of union group Unite, was airlifted to Southampton Hospital so receive emergency treatment, it is unknown if the injured man has any permanent damage to his lower limbs.
A spokesman for Unite expressed deep concern for the welfare of workers in the DP dock yard; a company based in Dubai and said the company's employer liability insurance will definitely take a severe battering, as this is the second crane incident this year.
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed is investigating the incident however the crane boom dropped during normal working conditions.
The crash itself however was not as severe as a similar crane collapse in New Delhi, a steel girder crumpled flipping to cranes through the area during the construction of Delhi Metro infrastructure system.
