Cracked ribs after ride on conveyor built

Stephen Shore is the latest employee at work to suffer injuries whilst using equipment supplied by his company which was inadequately guarded.
Shore a industrial worker for Calder Industrial Materials in Chester was attempting to clear debris for a conveyor belt as a tipping table loaded materials onto the contraption.
However with lack of fixed guards and a padlock on the gate, Shore was able to access the dangerous machine and the underside of the tipping table, when he became trapped on the conveyor belt sustaining cracked ribs and severe injuries.
Calder Materials was found guilty of negligence and was order to pay fines amounting to over £5000; the Health and Safety Executive stated that Shore was lucky to be alive.
