Posted on January 09th 2009

£5,000 has been fined to a construction firm following an accident at one of their sites, involving an employee being injured by a falling scaffolding pole. £1,543.20 will also be charged to the company for breaching Health and Safety Legislations.

The worker who had been on his way to make a cup of tea walked past some scaffolding when a five-foot pole struck him, causing partial paralysis, among other injuries.

The Health and Safety Executive commented that people in control of scaffolding operations should ensure that other workers and the public should stay away as all it takes is someone to drop something causing significant injury or death.
