Compensation for family of asbestos victim

£18,000 has been awarded to the family of a former plumber after he died as a result of a mesothelioma.

The man worked for a family run business when he was exposed to asbestos. Before his death he recalled ripping out old pipes and boilers that were covered in asbestos insulation.

The family run firm denied liability; however this was over ruled by the judge on the grounds that he had frequently encountered asbestos based materials such as insulation in airing cupboards and in bath panels during his time working for the plumbing business.
