Compensation denied

Compensation has been refused to a builder who was left mentally scared after he witnessed the death of one of his workmates at the Wembley stadium construction site.

A work platform that weighted a third of a ton fell 60 feet to the ground, landing on top of the builders' friend, the worker who was minutes away climbed underneath the buckled platform to comfort his friends who died at the scene.

The man was left with post traumatic stress and did not return to work until three years after the incident. It has also been doubted as to whether he will ever return to the construction industry.

The accident, which was caused by a crane drivers' negligence left the contractors who the builder was working for to admit liability, however any claim against them was ruled out by the judge as although it was a devastating accident to witness he was not the victim.
