Compensation awarded for broken ankle
Posted on July 03rd 2009
£3,000 has been awarded in compensation after an accident in the workplace where a worker broke her ankle.
The radiographer, who pursued the claim with the help of her trade union, was pulling a screen along a corridor at the hospital she worked in, when one of the wheels of the screen hit her ankle, causing it to break.
After 4 weeks off of work and spending weeks in plaster she has now fully recovered.
The Radiographer had never been adequately trained in how to move the heavy screens, which could have avoided the painful injury.
The worker contacted the society of Radiographers who pursued the claim, which was settled out of court after the hospitals training facility admitted liability.
