A Derbyshire man has been awarded £140,000 compensation from his previous employers after being diagnosed with the asbestos related disease mesothelioma after exposure to the deadly substance in the 1960's.

Doctors gave him between 7 and 14 months after being was exposed while working as a lift engineer installing lifts in hospitals, factories and commercial premises whilst working alongside other tradesman who used asbestos based materials.

His main concern was that his wife would be financially secure after his death and with the case now settled it has been a huge relief.
