Apprentice looks to a successful career

A determined apprentice, who is currently carrying out a three year PLA course in Bricklaying, has been given the opportunity to build a successful career in construction after being taken under the wing of one of Newcastle's leading construction groups.

The 18 year old boy from Newcastle, who has already passed his first year of the course with a distinction, will be spending one year on the site under the mentoring of the companies most experience tradesman who has been with the company for 16 years, but has been working as a bricklayer for 43 years.

The apprentice is currently working on a site carrying out the construction of 18 affordable houses, providing him with an opportunity to put into practise his newly learnt skills and also pick up new techniques carried out by the companies' bricklayers.

A structured training plan will be carried out by the 18 year old worker whilst he is on site, providing him with a variety of schemes.
