Ambassador of Forklift Safety Week speaks of dangers
Posted on September 23rd 2009
National Forklift Safety Week starts on Monday September 21 and one man, who became victim to a horrific accident in 1991 involving a forklift truck is wanting to help promote the importance of Forklift safety by giving people details on the workplace accident he was involved in.
Mr Rose, who was 21 at the time, worked for a dog food factory in his local town of Hetton, when he was hit by a Forklift truck which crushed him, leaving him with horrendous injuries. The injuries left him hospital bound for four months whilst he underwent a series of operations to fix the damage caused by the forklift. He was then unable to return to work for 7 years.
400 people are year are injured by a forklift truck, some are even killed due to a lack of safety precautions. Like Mr Rose, many victims are not operating the machinery that they are injured by.
This year, Mr Rose, who is the ambassador for the National Forklift Safety Week 2009, will be speaking of his experience and the dangers that come from forklift trucks.
