Carillion JM, formerly Mowlem, has admitted liability in the death of an employee who died at a Mowlem construction site in 2003.

The employee an Alexander McCully died when he fell 17m from incomplete scaffolding at the Mowlem construction site on the Isle of Grain.

At Maidstone crown court Carillion JM pleaded guilty and were fined £70,000 and ordered to pay costs of £24,000.

By not properly planning their procedures for working at height the company could find that they are not covered under their insurance policy for the costs of contesting the case.
