Workers admit to being hungover on the job
A survey recently carried out has found that a fifth of people working in the construction industry and 15 percent in agriculture and wholesale attend work with a hangover once a week and admit that they realise this could be a risk to health and safety.
61 percent of the manufacturing workforce and 41 percent of the construction industry find it harder to concentrate with a hangover, not only affecting productivity but also risking the threat of an accident on themselves and others in the workplace. Some of these workers also admitted that due to the lack of concentration they make many mistakes, which then have to be rectified the following day.
Last year around 69 construction workers were killed, although there is no precise figures as to how many are affected by alcohol it does affect judgement and physical co-ordination and will affect the more risky jobs.
