Worker awarded £468,000 in damages after amputation

A worker who fell down a 15ft lift shaft and had to have his right leg amputated has been awarded £468,000 in damages.

The man who works as a manufacturing technician was putting a pallet truck into the lift when he fell down the shaft. He landed on his feet causing deep vein thrombosis and later had his leg amputated below the knee.

The case was settled out of court after his employers admitted liability.
