Work Related Stress results in £65,000 payout

A worker who suffered from work related stress has received £65,000 in compensation.

The Man, who was employed by a manufacturing company near where he lived, was employed as a shift team leader. After working for two years and gaining a successful team of workers he was asked to move to be a team leader on another shift.

He was already receiving medication for high blood pressure and depressive illness since 1999 due to family circumstance and was advised by the company doctor that the change in shifts should not commence due to anxiety and excessively high blood pressure.

However, despite the advise from the employers occupational health doctor, he was still asked to change shifts. This resulted in him collapsing at work and being taken to hospital. He was diagnosed with depression and unable to return to work due to the state of his medical health, from depression to work related stress.
