Tradesmen to be more conscious of asbestos
The British Lung Foundation had advised of their concern that tradesman and putting themselves at risk of mesothelioma, as they aren’t aware of the risks associated with asbestos.
Further to a survey that the British Lung Foundation have carried out, they have discovered that less than a third of trades people are aware that exposure to asbestos can cause cancer and only 12 percent know that it can kill.
74 percent of tradesmen haven’t had any training with asbestos and 30 percent wrongly believe that it has been removed from UK Buildings.
These results were gathered from plumbers, electricians, gas fitters, joiners and carpenters, all of which are most at risk of coming into contact with asbestos.
Astoundingly 20 people a week die of asbestos-related disease every week and unfortunately until people become more aware of asbestos and how to protect themselves, mesothelioma will never become a disease of the past.
