Permanent damage caused by vibrating tools
A worker who has received permanent damage to his hands from vibrating tools has been awarded £8,400 in compensation from 4 previous employers.
During his working life the man was employed at 4 different companies as a boilermaker where he was exposed to excessive vibrations from tools, such as large drills, pistol drills, needle guns, grinders and impact wrenches.
The 4 employers admitted breach of duty after court proceedings were issued, although 3 of the 4 did at first denied liability and were not going to pay compensation until a few days before the trial was to take place.
