Man killed after company breached Health And Safety Act

The family of a man who was tragically killed by a reversing lorry, whilst working on a scrap yard have been compensated with £200,000 and £55,000 of costs.

The employers pleaded guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at work etc Act of 1974, as they did not make suitable and sufficient risk assessments for the movement of vehicles and pedestrians on site. They had previously been warned at other sites by HSE that accidents could happen if precautions were not taken.
