HSE push for better work regulations

Posted on January 18th 2010

The number of workplace accidents and deaths at work in greater Manchester dropped last year. The number of deaths dropped by 20% and accidents at work dropped by around 13% compared to those of 2008. While this number is a promising increase the Health and Safety Executive are urging companies to increase their awareness. Each year the UK economy looses billions of pounds as a result of accidents at work, which the Government hopes to reduce.

Its not only money lost through absent workers that affects the economy, it is the fines and prosecutions to companies for failing to comply with health and safety laws. For every worker that is injured at work through company negligence a business is fined thousands of pounds.

It is these figures and statistics that have played a role in the HSE's new campaigns into tackling health and safety at work. They are constantly running events around the UK and urge all business owners to attend, as there are vital lessons to be learned from them.
