Faulty Crane leads to compensation payout
A man who worked in a forging department of a large steelworks factory has received £3,000 compensation after being injured in the workplace.
A crane, that was alleged to be faulty, lowered a bucket on to his foot, fracturing his big toe and crushing the adjacent toe after the crane failed to take commands from an employee who was operating it.
The employers admitted primary liability after they failed to ensure that the equipment, the crane, was maintained in efficient working order, later resulting in an employee sustaining injuries.
