Employers need to be aware of RSI
Employers are being advised to be more aware of Repetitive Strain Injury and analyse the risks of their staff being affected.
Physio at Work, an Occupational Physiotherapy and Ergonomic Consultancy Services Firm, has noted that the increasing rates of RSI in the workplace could be due to the poor preventative care and working conditions, which may later result in a personal injury claim for work-related afflictions.
Employers need to ensure that their staff are given regular training and understand the risks that are associated with tasks that they are undertaking, such as using the computer all day. They also need to ensure that they are carrying out regular risk assessments of their staff’s workstations.
If employers are carrying out appropriate preventative measures RSI is almost completely avoidable and will save the industry up to £20 billion every year through the loss of production due to RSI.
