Compensation for assaulted buss driver
An ex-London buss driver has received £75,000 in compensation after being assaulted at work and then dismissed for taking time off to recuperate.
The driver received shoulder and elbow injuries to the left arm after being assaulted by a drunken passenger. The attack had also lead to psychological issues that required counselling before he could return to work.
The route he drove was notorious for the number of incidents of assaults and abuse of drivers.
Throughout the case his former employers claimed that he was the instigator of the attack and that he had struck first, however this was in contrary to the police reports that supported the drivers’ account of the situation.
