Compensation after fall from scaffolding
Following an accident at work, a labourer on a construction site has agreed an out of court settlement with his employer.
He was taking down some scaffolding when his foot went straight through a gap in an allocated walkway. When investigated, it was discovered that there was a gap in the planks where an extra board should have been. This had then been hidden under black plastic sheeting.
The accident resulted in the man tearing his knee cartilage and left him unable to work. Following several hospital visits he eventually had an operation to mend the damaged cartilage.
His employer paid him £4,635 for lost earnings.
